Megan Helton

Co-Owner

Stonetree owners Megan Helton and Bob Goodwyn first met at a crag in 2016 outside of Helena, Montana. Before they bought Stonetree in 2021, they were already helping with climbing team, yoga, strength and conditioning classes, and Ladies Nights. Once they took over, their goal was to create a space and a community for folks to learn and get better and stronger as their climbing progresses. From the excitement of little kids (who cannot handle rule #1 in running) to the hardcore members training for their next project, the fulfillment from building a welcoming community is the reason Bob calls being a business owner the BEST job he’s ever had.

Youth Programs Coordinator/ Lead Setter

Kelsey is originally from South-West Washington and learned to climb between Smith Rock and the Columbia River Gorge. She moved to Helena at the end of 2021 and joined Stonetree to take on coaching the youngsters. Kelsey is also a board member for Helena Climber’s Coalition and works outside of Stonetree to grow and maintain Montana’s climbing community as a welcoming and accessible space. With years of experience climbing, adventuring, coaching, setting, and snowboarding, we’re so glad she’s part of Stonetree’s community.

Les mignery

Fitness Instructor

Les has nearly 30 years of experience in endurance sports, from running & skiing to cross country races and backcountry hunting. He brings a rare blend of field-tested grit and science-backed training. With over fifteen 100-mile ultra-marathons (including 12 Bighorn 100 finishes), too many 50-milers and 50Ks to count, and the Bob Marshall Open (three times), his experience runs deep and is tuned for longevity, strength, and performance. Combined with his Wyoming roots and degree in sports science we’re lucky to have him at Stonetree.

Marketing and Retail Manager

Ryann is newly returned Helena after living in Tucson, Arizona. She has degrees in Marketing and Entrepreneurship from the University of Arizona’s Eller School of Business and previously worked in marketing for the Hershey Company and as an illustrator for children’s books. With a passion for art, storytelling, and the outdoors, she is here to help share Stonetree’s story, connect with the local community, and create welcoming spaces for climbers of all ages and abilities. If she’s not at our desk, you will probably find her out and about in the community with her giant dog, Bentley.

haven hoffman

Climbing Instructor

Haven is a Helena-valley local and an American Mountain Guide Association certified Single Pitch Instructor with 10+ years of climbing experience. Before becoming a bona fide trad dad, he spent nearly a decade working as a shipboard maritime engineer where the only thing to climb was heavy equipment and Abrams tanks. With experience climbing around North America, from grain silos in Indiana to multi-pitch ice in the South Fork of the Shoshone, we're psyched to have him sharing his knowledge at Stonetree.
